Finance & Logistics in-charge

My role

As a Finance in-charge, I was responsible for Rewriter's financial book-keeping using google sheet and ensure that we are spending within our budget.

As a Logistics in-charge, I was responsible for planning and bringing the needed logistics for all of our events. I was also the in-charge of a donation drive whereby I had to organize and communicate with partners.

Due to my expertise in Adobe Indesign and illustration skills, I illustrated and edited our children's book (one of our products).

This journey has been meaningful where I have learnt and grown a lot as a person. I have learnt to be more patient when it comes to working with partners. When it comes to working, being meticulous and careful is crucial. I have learnt to expect the unexpected and have better problem-solving skills. More importantly, I have learnt to be creative and do not be afraid of taking risks. My interaction with the children has let me gain a deeper understanding of them.

Project Tabung 2018

What is Project Tabung?

In year 2.1, we had a service-learning project under one of our modules, Project Management. My group and I (consisting of six people) worked with Beyond Social Services to kick-start a community savings programme called "Community Tabung" that aims to encourage children from the low-income (living in rented flats with a household income of less than $1,500) to save up for their future financial needs such as education and health care, and to also raise awareness about long-term financial planning and financial literacy within the community.

My group and I decided to open the project with a mini-carnival event so as to integrate community bonding and savings at the same time.

Activity in-charge

As an activity in-charge, I had to plan the activities we would be executing for the mini-carnival. I came up with the arcade-like concept whereby the children who participate gets a set of tokens, "pay" to play games at various booths with their token and depending on their winnings, get more tokens back. It is to reflect on what the children can do with their money, whether they would want to save or spend. I created the collaterals for the activity too.

My role

Other activities

  • Recruit volunteers

  • Hold a fundraiser at NP to fund for the mini-carnival

  • Door-knocking around the neighbourhood for community mapping

  • Apply project management tools such as risk assessment management system, work breakdown structure, organise, coordinate, do liaising and many more.

Project Make A Difference 2017

Programme in-charge

My team and I were required to do the programme list and planning. I had to contact the performers, interact with the logistics and audio-visual team. I had to work under pressure as there were many challenges along the way and the planning process was close to the deadline. I have learnt to work well with others too

My role

Achievements

This experience taught me to be more adaptable to changes, think out of the box, accommodate and work well with others. I gained a deeper insight into programme planning.
